Fiber and Polymer Science B.S.

Nylon. Spandex. Polarfleece. Polyaramids. Lyocell. PLA. All were considered the "miracle fibers" of their day, offering qualities and possibilities that had never before been seen in fibrous materials and biologically derived products. Fiber and polymer scientists study the materials chemistry, physics and engineering to create fibers and polymers for applications ranging from functions to fashion. Our students have access to world renown instructors and state-of-the-art analytical and testing facilities: just two of the factors that make the program the most highly regarded in the United States. Blending aspects of chemistry, physics and materials science, the program will prepare you for an exciting career in a wide range of industries from biotechnology, consumer products, industrial products, performance sportswear to protective clothing as well as graduate studies and research careers.
