Music B.M. Concentration in Piano Performance
The Department of Music offers a high quality, comprehensive musical education for the students as well as rich cultural offerings for the wider regional community. The Department creates a learning environment characterized by outstanding instruction in music education, performance, composition, jazz studies, and music technology informed by primary experiences performing, teaching, composing, or any other aspect of music making. In all its activities, the Department strives to prepare its graduates to create and perform musical art in as many contexts and settings as possible.
Piano studies at California State University, Stanislaus provide exceptional artistic performance and pedagogy training in a personalized, focused, and nurturing environment. The Piano Performance degree includes weekly 60-minute lessons as well as courses in piano literature, piano pedagogy, accompanying, and chamber music. The curriculum is designed to give students a well-rounded background in essential musical skills to enable them to become practicing musicians and effective teachers and to prepare them for further study at the graduate level.
Department facilities include high-quality newer Steinway, Mason and Hamlin, and Boston pianos that are available for student practice. Piano majors perform frequently in the Bernell and Flora Snider Music Recital Hall, which houses two outstanding Steinway concert grand pianos.
