University Majors
The Business Adminstration - Finance area program provides students with the knowledge and analytical skills essential for employment in all sectors of business and industry, as well as for managerial careers in governmental and other non-profit organizations. Opportunities for specialization are provided for students preparing for careers in accounting, financial management, marketing management, management information systems, international business management, general management, and human resources management. The finance area prepares students for successful careers in financial services as well as the corporate world. Business finance courses examine the role of the financial manager as it applies to a small company as well as a multinational firm. In other finance courses, students are provided with a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the many aspects related to the finance function, as well as skills required for successful careers in the financial services. The area also offers a financial planning pathway for students who wish to pursue careers in financial services. The financial planning curriculum has been certified by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., and students who complete this pathway are qualified to take the Board's Certification Examination.
