University of California, Santa Barbara
Feminist Studies B.A.

Feminist Studies is an interdisciplinary program and major which explores the varied experiences of women over time and across the globe as well as the systematic study of gender. The Feminist Studies major is designed to provide the student with the opportunity to discover the variety and richness of women's historical, cultural, representational, and social contributions, as well as to obtain a clear understanding of the dynamics of gender, sexuality, race, class, and other markers of identity, social and political movements for change, and individual and social transformations. The Feminist Studies curriculum is composed of its own core interdisciplinary courses as well as a variety of courses elected from disciplines within the humanities and social sciences. The Feminist Studies curriculum is designed to complement and elaborate the aims students pursue in traditional departments. The major can form the core of an excellent liberal arts education.
