Music Studies - Western Art Music Emphasis B.A.

The Music Studies program offers a wide range of options with a liberal arts B.A. degree. Students take the same set of General Education requirements as all B.A. students in the College of Letters and Science. The core music theory , musicianship, analysis and music history courses are the same as for the Bachelor of Music programs, and there are further requirements for options in counterpoint, ethnomusicology, and other music academic electives. Three years of ensemble participation are required, and more encouraged. All B.A. Music Studies majors must take two years of performance courses. There are optional emphases offered in Ethnomusicology, Western Art Music, and Interdisciplinary Studies of Music.
