University of California, Santa Barbara
History of Art and Architecture - Museum Studies Emphasis B.A.

The history of art and architecture is the study of art works and architecture created by civilizations from prehistoric to modern times. Art historians describe, explain, interpret, and evaluate art objects and architecture in their broad cultural contexts, relating them to the historical circumstances in which they were created and to the people who created them. In so doing, art historians explore the world of aesthetic expression and study culture through art. It is one of the objectives of the program to train the student`s eye to make both stylistic and qualitative distinctions between different works and different artists. There are optional emphases offered in Architecture & Environment and Museum Studies.
