University Majors

University of California, Riverside
Environmental Sciences B.A./B.S. Environmental Toxicology Option

The Environmental Sciences program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in business, industry, or government; or to pursue graduate studies in environmentally-related science, law, public health, or business. Awareness of the importance of preserving and/or restoring environmental quality has pervaded all aspects of the public and private sectors, both at the local and international levels. The curriculum provides a broad scope of instruction which enables students to explore various disciplines and professions involved with environmental issues. Both B.S. and B.A. degrees are offered, as well as a minor in Environmental Sciences. All majors must complete a set of core requirements, which are courses that provide a basic understanding of the physical, biological, and social sciences, as well as their application to environmental processes and issues. In addition, students must select a curriculum option and complete the specified required and elective courses for that option.
