Film and Television B.A.

The four year Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Television provides an education in the history and theory of these art forms and basic learning experiences in production within the context of a liberal arts education. In the first year, students are introduced to all major aspects of film, television, and digital media study. In the second year, each student completes a senior concentration chosen from film production, television production [narrative or documentary], screenwriting, animation, critical studies or digital media. Students must also complete at least one professional internship and one directed independent study course.

Additional admission requirements include a personal essay, a critical essay, a creative writing sample, and two letters of recommendation. Film and videotapes are not accepted. Prior experience is not required. Applicants to the school must have a minimum 3.2 GPA at the time of application and must complete their general education coursework prior to entrance. Transfer students cannot change to the Film and Television major after they transfer to UCLA.
