Japanese Language and Literature, B.A.

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures offers a degree in Japanese Language and Literature. The program gives students a complete cultural understanding and appreciation of the literature, art, and philosophy of a given national identity. Upper-division courses develop critical and analytical skills necessary not only to interpret literary texts but also to deal with the increasingly complex and culturally diverse world in which we live. Studies in Japanese Language and Literature will give the student an intensive linguistic and cultural preparation needed to pursue a career with public affairs involving Pacific Rim nations.
