The major in economics that begins with intermediate theory courses in the two broad areas of microeconomics and macroeconomics. These areas are introduced in either of the lower division courses, Economics 1 or Economics 2. Students who major in economics have the opportunity to take a range of courses to expose themselves to various kinds of economic analysis. The Department of Economics organizes its courses into three broad categories to guide students in course selection: Economic Theory; Applications and Institutions; and Economic History and History of Economic Thought.
