English (Linguistics Track) B.A.

B.A. in English (Linguistics Track): The linguistic track requires that students take five four-unit courses-hence making up the 20 units of specified coursework: English 312, English 420, English 422, English 523, and English 524. These classes are designed to provide students with a background in first and second language acquisition, English grammar, the history and development of the English language, English syntax, and sociolinguistics. English 311 is the prerequisite for all these courses, and English 420 should be taken before English 523.
