University Majors

California State University, Dominguez Hills
Interdisciplinary Studies B.A. with American Studies Concentration

Within the IDS/PACE major, the concentration in American Studies focuses on the study of United States -- literary, social, cultural, political, and environmental history from the pre-colonial era to the new millennium.  American Studies crosses all the disciplines but centers on the humanities and social sciences, using not only the wide lens of the nation as a whole but also the increasingly precise focus of the American West, of California, and of our local region to provide students with an exemplary understanding of our complex national identity. The uniquely American experience of race, class, and gender is highlighted across the American Studies curriculum
