Nutrition and Food Sciences B.S. General Dietetics Option

Nutrition and Food Sciences Majors gain knowledge and skills in nutrition communication and education, medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, food science and nutrition management. There are three options for the Bachelor`s of Science (BS) degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences: Dietetics, Nutrition Management and Food and Nutrition Communication.

The General Dietetics Option is for students interested in obtaining a Registered Dietitian (RD) credential. Prospective applicants to this option must submit a supplemental Dietetics application by March 1. A Dietetics application is available from the Nutrition and Food Sciences department office. In addition to the application, students must provide transcripts of all previous college or university level work, a resume, two letters of recommendation, and a one-page written personal statement about your career goals. Applications are reviewed by a committee which ranks all applications for placement. Students not selected for the option are encouraged to meet with a Nutrition and Food Science faculty advisor. Students not selected may reapply once.
